Job Description
​
Overview: Souls to the Polls WI seeks an energetic, organized, and disciplined self-starter to launch and lead their inaugural Youth Engagement Initiative aimed at building out programs to develop and activate young voters (ages 18-35) throughout the 2024 election cycle.
​
About Us: Souls to the Polls WI (STTP) is a non-profit organization based in Milwaukee, WI that believes voting is our collective power. STTP unites faith leaders and their congregations, community organizations, and individuals to strengthen the voting power of the Black and Hispanic community through education, issue-based advocacy, and voting resources.​
​
Summary of the Youth Engagement Initiative: The Youth Engagement Initiative will activate and train young Milwaukee leaders in community, civic, and educational service through internships, scholarships, Civic 101 programs, and quarterly town halls. This initiative will empower young Milwaukeeans to make a difference in their community while serving the mission of Souls to the Polls. The Youth Program Director will work alongside the STTP team to build the inaugural initiative.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Work within the stated goals of the initiative to create the following programs:

​Internships with STTP targeted at skills development and civic engagement among high school and college students;

Scholarship competitions around social issues and elections;

A Civics 101 program and youth ambassador team that can facilitate the program to high school, college, community and faith youth groups;

Youth-led town halls that energize the community around elections and issues pertaining to the right to vote.

Manage the day-to-day operations of the Youth Engagement Initiative (YEI) including program staff hired by the Youth Program Director and senior leadership

Work with STTP team to engage with funders to support programs; manage budgets and fundraising for the YEI
-
Set the strategic plan for the YEI including long and short term goals, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for program staff

Lead internal and external communications for the YEI

Develop community partnerships and work with key stakeholders to expand STTP’s audience and reach through the YEI

Work within communities of color to move elected leaders to implement policies which affect them

Desired Experience:
-
3-5 years in a management role, preferably in politics/campaigns, non-profit, higher education or community organizing
-
A strong ability to inspire, lead, and visualize change
-
A passion for working with youth ages 18-35
-
A keen understanding of the role digital and social media plays in outreach to youth, as well as an understanding of how to utilize digital tools to create successful programs in real life
-
A love for organization and structure building
-
Extensive experience managing senior level colleagues
